7 arrested in Washington state union dispute at new grain terminal at Port of Longview

LONGVIEW, Wash. — Washington authorities have arrested seven people during a union protest at a new grain terminal at the Port of Longview, escalating a labor dispute that has interrupted rail shipments there.

The protesters on Monday were more aggressive than in the past, the Cowlitz County sheriff’s office said.

“They have turned their aggression toward the deputies and officers on the scene, repeatedly shouting and calling the officers profane names, and many of them refusing the officers’ requests,” Chief Criminal Deputy Charlie Rosenzweig said in a release.
