Rick Santorum searches for elusive spark in Republican debate

The Pennsylvania senator has made a name for himself in the 2012 presidential contest in two ways.

First, he has made more stops in Iowa than anybody. And second, he has been the quickest to criticize his opponents when questions are raised about their records or personal lives.

This strategy has enabled Santorum to remain part of the conversation, but it hasn’t done much to help him rise in the polls.
