Blitzer saves CNN from Cruz missile

In a move that one CNN correspondent described as "a middle finger" to Mitch McConnell, Sen. Ted Cruz decided to hold a press conference on Wednesday while the Senate Minority Leader was delivering his floor speech on a new deal to reopen the government and lift the debt ceiling.

When Cruz began his remarks, just after McConnell started speaking, CNN switched its video and audio feed to the Texas Senator, who spoke out against the deal. But half a minute in, CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer could be heard asking his producer, "Why did we leave--"

Seconds later, Blitzer came on audio and told viewers, "Alright, let's leave Ted Cruz, he's obviously opposed to this deal. Let's go back to Mitch McConnell, the Republican leader on the Senate floor, he supports it. Coverage of McConnell's remarks then resumed.
