Australia’s 39-21 victory over Fiji in their World Cup opener was marred by controversy after Reece Hodge’s high tackle on Pecili Yato went unpunished, calling into question World Rugby’s clampdown just two days into the tournament.
Fiji are understood to be privately furious that Hodge was not sanctioned for his try-saving intervention that forced Yato from the field with a concussion in the first half.
